Who we are

In 2022, Michael Falck, Mikko Kärkkäinen, and Johanna Småros, the three co-founders of Finnish tech unicorn RELEX Solutions, together with one of RELEX's first employees, Marko Nikula, founded a new charity foundation going by the name RELEX Foundation for a Better Future.

Believing in a better future is a fundamental characteristic of human beings. We at RELEX Foundation for a Better Future believe that it is possible to build a good society within the limits of the planet. The purpose of the Foundation is to improve the state of the environment, mitigate global warming, further human rights and equality, and work for a society where everyone wants to actively participate. Currently, we focus on fostering biodiversity and mitigating climate change and its impacts.

The four founders saw it important to reinvest RELEX Solutions’ success into causes that accelerate positive impact in the world. As RELEX Solutions and its success enabled the establishment of the foundation, RELEX was kept in the foundation's name to honor the work of the previous, current, and future RELEX Solutions employees. Although the founding members are RELEX Solutions executives and the majority of the Foundation’s assets are invested in RELEX shares, the RELEX Foundation operates independently from RELEX Solutions. The Foundation's operations are headed by the Foundation's CEO Outi Kuittinen.
